Welcome to Stardust Sanctuary! We're thrilled that you’re interested in joining our community of volunteers. We are dedicated to creating meaningful connections between people and the natural world. Through our animal assisted learning programs, we strive to inspire and educate individuals of all ages. To ensure all volunteers are well-prepared, informed, and aligned with our values, we require a volunteer orientation for anyone registering to volunteer at the sanctuary. Below are guidelines and policies for the orientation process. 1. Registration and Initial Application Before attending the orientation, prospective volunteers must complete an online application form. This will provide basic information about your interests, availability, and any previous experience. 2. Orientation Session Requirements Attendance: All volunteers must attend an in-person orientation session before starting their volunteer work at Stardust Sanctuary. Time Commitment: The orientation session typically lasts between 60 and 90 minutes. Content: During orientation, you will be introduced to the sanctuary’s mission, history, policies, and safety protocols. Topics will include animal care procedures, volunteer responsibilities, and sanctuary rules. Volunteers will also learn about the importance of respecting the animals' well-being, avoiding stress, and creating a calm, supportive environment for them. 3. Proper Attire: Volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes, long pants, and weather-appropriate clothing. A hat and sunscreen are recommended during warmer months. We will provide gloves and other protective gear as necessary.
